A Girlfriend Sleepover...

Katie and I had three little sweetie pies over for a sleepover tonight.

They are all sisters, and I have to say, making cookies with them was lots of fun.

Katie use to babysit these three when they were younger, before she worked at Jorges...

Katie's BF stopped by and offered to go to the store to get the right pizza.

Ipod games were played.  A kitten and dog were played with...

Bellies were tickled...

And dress up was NOT forgotten...

A bonfire was made...

Buildings were built...

Boys played pass...

And being boys, they just HAD TO jump over the fire.

Chubbie Bunnies were present...

And in due time, after the girls were certain they had made one of their favorite babysitters BF " cry,"  (just because they wanted to see a boy cry, BF, obliged. Insert smiley face here),  and he was accepted...

Marshmellows were toasted. Or rather burned...

The night was just getting quiet and settled down ...

When the  kitten was spotted in the upstairs bedroom window. Apparently not wanting to miss out on the fun.

Then Katie suggested a game of street soccer...

Well you can guess it was quiet no more...

We had a wonderful spring evening here on Mayberry, Um, I mean Bartlett Street... And it has only just begun.

New Blog, New Love...

I found a new blog and it makes me hungry...

In her own words...
"this is a blog about decorated cookies, painted marshmallows and other crafty sweets"
And boy does she have some amazing stuff!!!   The Decorated Cookie has tons of great ideas to enjoy food.  This mason jar meal caught my eye.

Reminded me of what my grandmother probably did when she was a child and spent the afternoons with her dad, having a picnic in the cemetery.  Yes, I said cemetery.  I bet they used mason jars, some type of sack and walked to their favorite spot, where they felt closer to those who had gone before them, and loved deeply.

My oldest sister had told me that she and her dad would pack a lunch, go to where her family was buried, and enjoy peace and quiet.  Funny, but I get it..

Although I've never packed a lunch and have eaten there, I have spent so much time there with my mom growing up.  We would tend the family plots, get dirt under our nails from digging, and enjoy the peace...

I have always loved the idea of a picnic on a quiet afternoon.  Simple, peaceful, good.

I do believe I will pick myself up some mason jars, pack a lunch for myself and someone special, and enjoy a peaceful afternoon this summer.

Thanks for the tips Decorated Cookie.  Click over to her blog for yourself.  And, see you at the cemetery.

Some days, I still feel like this little girl. Needing to put on my Super Hero costume, just to get through the day.

I'm grateful I even have one. (insert smiley face here) I hope it still fits.

Another good blog, birch & lily

"wife of an incredible man, mother of an adorable boy, and child of a loving God. I may not fit into any particular blog niche, but I write about the things that I enjoy, (like design, or crafts and art, or kids books) and the journey I'm on in the life God's given me as a wife, a mother, and woman."

Rejoicing
My heart is rejoicing.
A quiet, lovely, sweet sort of rejoicing.
Whispers of thanks to a kind God
who always heard
who always saw
who always knew.
And who, in His infinite grace and power
has delivered a long-awaited blessing.
And I can truly say
that a part of this blessing
has been the long waiting.
I have learned more of hope:
How hard it can be to cling to as time passes.
How foolish you can feel while it’s just hope.
How only hope in the Lord is worth the wait.
I have learned more of trust:
How to let go of control
How to let go of my plans.
How the Lord is always trustworthy.
And what I’ve longed for is now not a right I am entitled to,
but truly a gracious, kind, generous gift from the hand of the Lord.
And the waiting has brought Him more glory in my heart.  The waiting has made me more thankful for this gift.  The waiting has refined me and taught me.  And the waiting is drawing to a close.
My heart rejoices in the Lord.

Paint Me White,..

New Blog. Great Stuff. Click over to Paint Me White

Gold Coast Australia - My name is Sandy and I have a passion for upcycling old furniture. I am a collector a treasure hunter and see the beauty in what pieces can be rather than what they currently are. I love beautiful things shabby, rustic, beachy, french and anything that is recycled. I hardly ever buy new and with some paint and imagination I transform time worn pieces. You can check out my furniture at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre in Brisbane. Drop me a comment I would love to hear from you.

Take a look at her recent find, and what she transformed it into...

It's Monday...

In my mothers words to us growing up... "If you don't have something good to say about someone, then say nothing at all."

Yeah, I miss her.
