Kristin Hannah on her book, Winter Garden

"Sometimes when you open the door to your mothers past, you find your own future."

I am on the last chapter of a book I found hard to get into at first.

I think we've all read those before.

But now that I'm on the last few pages, I am not looking forward to it ending.

I have learned a lot.

Historically.

So much I could connect to as a wife, mom, daughter.

This book moved me.

"How could any woman know her own story until she knew her mother's"

I am now convinced, I need to know more of my own mothers story.

This is the home of Debi Treloar, Photography

I love her style.

It is colorful, soothing, uncluttered, and clean.

It makes me smile just looking at it.

Find her site, here.

Enjoy.

____________________________

I so love Nora Ephron.

She was a woman after my own heart.

Her movies were real.

Her books were real.

She listened to people.

Really listened.

Her work reflected that about her.

She, was genuine in all she did.

My favorite scene from one of my very favorite movies, which of course always made me cry...

I think the next day Katie has off, we will get comfy p.j.'s on, some great tasting hot bread with tons of butter, warm blankets, and have a Nora Ephron Movie Marathon.

House Photos

I realized that we have to live in a place for a bit and then I can figure out the "how" of living in it.

So, it's coming along a little at a time.

And I'm just fine with that.

And yes, it is raining here.

Katie called and they were on their way home.

They wisely stopped to let the storm settle before they travel more.

Smart kids.

1956 The Bad Seed...

I started watching the 1956 movie, The Bad Seed.

Blue Eyes was in the same room, working on the stairs.

He isn't usually interested in movies I like, especially classics.

Five minutes went by, the hammering stopped.

 He was hooked.    :)

Eileen Heckart's performance as the drunken, grief stricken mother, was done so well.

 So believable.

This is one of my favorite movies because of it.

The best line of the whole movie is when in her drunken, distraught state, she turns to the prim and proper school teacher and says...

"You know somethin? Miss Fern dies her hair."

If you haven't seen it, find it, and take the time to watch.

My Saturday Morning... In A Nutshell, Or A Collage

Sophie waits patiently at my desk for me to make coffee.

Fred gives me the, "I don't know who told you I was fat, but I don't think cats should be on a diet" look, from across the room.

I am thinking those youngings should be texting soon to say their day at Canobie Lake Park is underway.

Having a dog who's only thought in the morning is to get you outside to throw whatever she finds her way, is a nice start to my day.

I am one grateful girl.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Farm Life...

Last night, most everyone was bringing in hay...

We are suppose to get a storm today...

Cutie boys were playing out back...

Doing things boys do...

He didn't know I was taking his picture... but then again, he is a boy, and it probably wouldn't have mattered.

Can't have a farm without a chicken or twenty...

And the most adorable little girl I've seen in a looooong time.

She happens to look just like her mum.  :)

Blue Eyes is always lending a hand.

These two boys reminded my so much of Mattie and Zack when they were little... inseparable!

She has to be one of the happiest babies I have ever known.

Can you tell she is loved on by everyone around her?!

Even Blue Eyes takes a moment to call to her... "Hey Pebbles!"

Life on a farm is good.

Dirty face and all.  :)
