My Sister In-Law Could Be Right...

I went to the local ReStore yesterday.  Look what was waiting for me...

It is a new Habitat For Humanity Store located downtown. I talked with one of the volunteers, about their philosophy and all. He said,

"We are a hand up, not a hand out."

I like that. It reminded me of how my siblings and I were brought up. How Blue Eyes and I tried to bring up our peeps.

The store consists of donated items from local people, businesses, and such.  They can be brand new, used, or in the case of this gorgeous chair...  used quite a bit for many years, but made well to still be something I instantly fall head over heals in love with at first site.

All proceeds go to building new houses and help winterizing existing houses for area people. The "hands up" part is that recipients have to do the building/winterizing right along side of the amazing volunteers.

"Hand Up, not Hand Out"

:)

Do I need another chair?

No.

But seriously, look at it. Really, just look at it.

This chair is as gorgeous in person as it is in the photos.

It is strong, heavy, and so well made.

You know, the way they use to make things.

Years ago.

To last.

My favorite sister in-law said to me recently...

" I think you might have a chair buying problem."

Her brother, Blue Eyes, my husband of thirty years, said something similar.

They could be right.

Actually, they probably are.

I seem to have a thing for chair buying.

Well, no one will ever lack for a seat at our house.

:)

It's all good. And I am so grateful

Look What I Found!

Yesterday was Wednesday. Sometimes referred to as "Hump Day" .

For me, it was neighborhood garbage day. And here is what I found...

If finding a drawer to someone's old dresser, throwing it in the back of your car not knowing what your going to do with it not funny enough...

Blue Eyes said to me as he walked in the door last evening...

"I saw that on the side of the road, on my way to work this morning and  thought,  my wife would so be stopping and picking that up right now if she saw it.  And here it is".

The man knows me so well.

And yes, I did see it just a short time later, stopped quickly on the side of the road, and put it in the back of my car.

I don't know if I will use it for this purpose always...but at least 17 going on 25 didn't leave her shoes in the middle of the doorway last night when she came home.

Those are her white sneakers just barely making it in...but IN they are.

Around Our House Today...

Or, I was a little bored this afternoon, and thought I'd play with my camera.

I so love living here.

It feels like home.

Hope your Sunday was a relaxing, quiet, cozy one.

One Of The Best Gifts Ever!

I stopped by the "new" place today to check on the mail.

This package arrived, all wrapped up real pretty like.

I can tell you I already knew what it was, and I couldn't have been more excited or grateful.

It is a photo taken of our four peeps last year, early fall.

The photographer Justine Johnson is amazing!

I can honestly say that if we had a fire, and I had to grab something before I ran out the door... this photo would be it!

Justine captured our peeps like she knew them.

Like they were her family.

That is a gift.

This girl has it.

I am so grateful for her talent, because even though I might take photos of others from time to time, I haven't had a really good, I can see and feel the love, kinda photo of our kids in a long time.

Justine caught that.

The love our peeps have for one another.

It brought tears to this mom's eyes.

Thank you Justine.  <3

YOU ROCK!!

See more of Justine's amazing work here.

If you live in Maine, or if you want her to travel to you, and need amazing photos of those you hold dear...have her do it.

You will NOT be disappointed with her work.

It will bring tears to your eyes.

Promise.  ;)
