Dr. Ruth and Nate... What a Combination!

The New York Times has an article in its Home & Garden Section that caught my interest.  Nate Berkus is quickly becoming my favorite decorator/talk show host, and here is why...

Nate gets people.  He REALLY gets people.  He sees their hearts, hears their spirit, and puts it all together and finds their unique style.  Who they are, in their homes.  I love him, just love him.  Click on the link,

New York Times...

and enjoy the re-pore between the two, and take a look at what Nate did to organize and bring out Dr. Ruth 's style.

I've Found A New Blog... And I'm In Love

Well you know today, I just barely took a shower got dressed. It's vacation right!? So I've been on my laptop doing one of my favorite things, looking at new blogs. I knew I loved Life on Canvas when I stumbled on her post about her love for You've Got Mail and Kathleen Kellys apartment...

You've Got Mail is one of my top 5 favorite movies and the one of the reasons is because I am so head over heals in love with her apartment.

I have spent afternoons just going through and stopping the dvd player just to "study" each and every possible inch of space...

I remember one day Katie came into my bedroom and I stopped the dvd and said with so much excitement in my voice,  "Kate look at this..."

She didn't get it.  Her expression told me she thought her mum was a little nuts.  Thats alright if she didn't get it...

 Jenny does!!!

Take a click over to her blog,  Life on Canvas, and see if you don't enjoy it as much as I do.

School Vacation For Stay At Home Moms...

Today is Monday the first day of February Vacation for most ...

Some moms are home this week with their kids...

Their quiet house is officially bombarded with kids, their stuff all over the place, their voices filling their ears, their needs wanting to be met.

Well I hope this week that stay at home moms take time...

To read a good book... even IF you have to hide someplace to do it

go for a quiet walk...

enjoy your morning cup of coffee...

take a much needed nap...

and just be...

But when it comes time to do something fun, we don't have to look any further then those little buggers/teenagers...

they will already be doing what comes natural to them...

having fun...

no matter how much it hurts.

YURT LOVE

I've had a thing for Yurts...

They remind me of tents, but a step up...

They have such a cozy feel to them...

They seem so simple...

 and just so inviting...

I even suggested to Blue Eyes, (who is up for just about anything as long as I'm there) that we live in one later in life.  You know, when all of the peeps are grown and out of the house...

I mean, how simple,

fun...

and just plain amazing would that be, right?

Well I don't think Blue Eyes was too thrilled with my idea because his response to me was...

"Sure... just as long as YOU don't mind living with mice!"

Now that wasn't nice.  He could have just said,

"No thanks Hun."

It's Friday. Today, I Will...

I so love Fridays...  Everyone who has worked their 9 to 5 all week, seem to have a little skip in their step on Friday.  Teenagers are not so, well, teenagerish.  They know they can stay up all night playing video games,  run through the neighborhood in silly suits, and make up for it by sleeping late Saturday morning.

I think we need too, you, and me, give ourselves "permission" to enjoy our weekends.  Really enjoy them.

It's not something I've come up with.  It's Gods plan.  Yup.  He said it.  He wants us to have a day to relax and be with Him.  Talk to Him.  Listen to Him.  Just be with Him.

I think all of us have the tendency to do too much.  Whatever that is.  We overload our lives and  our children's lives with this commitment, and that activity.  And you know what... we need to stop.  Just stop.

Stop thinking that doing everything, always being busy, is a good thing.  It's not.  Even in the saddest, hardest seasons of our lives, we need to stop.  Sit, stand, whatever.  Just be quiet. If only for just a moment, and breathe.

Its Friday at our house, and I know it is at yours.  That usually means Blue Eyes will come through the front door at 5:10, with a little wider smile for me.

It's Friday.  Today I will...

Take time to kiss my husband at the door at the end of his week.  I mean REALLY kiss him.  (insert huge smile from Blue Eyes here.)

Give myself permission to leave the dishes in the sink, not sweep the floors or dump the rubbish...

I will... stop, and  reconnect with those I love deeply in my life.

I will sit still, clear my mind the best I can and listen.  Just listen... to Him.

I will have fun...

And, I will relax, and slow down...

It's going to be a good weekend.   Oh yeah.  Did I mention I'm still in my jammies and its 10 o'clock.  I think I'm off to a good start don't you?

HOPE, IN TIMES OF TROUBLE...

One of my very favorite, if not my favorite blog I read daily is, whatever

I have always enjoyed and appreciated Megs honesty, creativity, and love for God and her family.

Today, she is a guest blogger at, Take Heart, A Blog By Danielle  Burkleo where Meg shares how,

"
God took our two little broken lives that we dedicated to HIM and made beauty from the ugliness we began with."

What a blessing it is to hear what God can do in our lives, in all circumstances if we only let Him.  Click on her link, and read her story.  You'll be blessed, I'm sure of it.

THINKING AHEAD, PAST ALL THIS SNOW...

This is a little of what I want our summer to look like...

With some of this mixed in...

And a bit of them...

And of course plenty of this...

And night after night of this...

Days spent doing lots of this...

And hopefully many warm nights doing this...

Yeah, Im getting tired of all the snow, and I'm thinking ahead.  Sometimes its a good thing.
